Liz Truss Criticizes Kemi Badenoch’s Tory Narrative
Former Prime Minister Liz Truss criticizes Kemi Badenoch, accusing her of distorting the truth about Conservative Party failures. Truss warned that unless the Tories face their past mistakes, especially on the Human Rights Act and economic policy, they risk deeper political trouble.
Badenoch had stated that Labour’s current economic plans mirror the missteps of Truss’s infamous 2022 mini-budget. But Truss pushed back, labeling these claims “spurious narratives” and suggesting they serve to distract from 14 years of real failures under Conservative rule.

Mini-Budget Defended Amid Party Division
Truss claimed her mini-budget aimed to lower taxes, curb spending, and ignite growth. She insisted that linking welfare increases to wages—not prices—could have saved £7 billion in one year alone. According to her, Conservative MPs lacked the courage to support such reforms.
She argued that Labour and current Tory leadership now pursue “unfunded tax rises,” causing long-term damage. She blamed the Bank of England and the Treasury for undermining her policies and resisting change. Truss called for scrapping the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) and repealing the Bank of England Act 1998 to return fiscal power to elected leaders.
A Call for Structural Reform
Truss faulted the Conservative Party’s failure to repeal Labour-era laws like the Human Rights Act. She criticized draconian lockdowns, excessive COVID-era spending, and rising immigration under Rishi Sunak’s leadership. According to her, these actions worsened public trust and eroded freedoms.
By referencing Argentine President Javier Milei and former U.S. President Donald Trump, Truss urged the Tories to adopt bold, supply-side economic reforms. She argued that real transformation requires dismantling establishment structures within the UK’s financial governance.
A Party in Denial
Truss challenged Badenoch to be honest with her own supporters. Without such accountability, Truss warned, the Conservative Party faces irreversible decline.
The conflict underscores a growing divide within the Tory ranks. While some want to move past the mini-budget debacle, others like Truss believe its core ideas are essential to reviving Britain’s economy.
